The Orchard Suffolk – Covid-19 Update

Dear Guests

In this unprecedented time, we are doing our best to continue to offer a great experience during your stay, while implementing some additional precautions such as enhanced cleaning measures.  Our three lodges all have there own private entrances, outside space and hot tub, and as such facilitate social distancing .

We have acquired the “Good To Go” Industry Standard mark, this means our business follows government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, has a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

Our cleaning procedures , include the use of appropriate cleaning sanitiser on all surfaces and high touch points. We use an antiviral disinfectant fogger between changeovers, which is effective against a range of pathogenic viruses including Coronavirus and SARS-CoV-2. It uses a non bleach formula which cleans and disinfects the area which the mist touches.

We would kindly ask guests to assist, by stripping beds prior to departure and leaving the linen in the bags provided.

We will temporarily be removing some non essential tactile items to reduce the spread of any viral infection and to streamline our cleaning procedure. This includes surplus crockery, cookware,  glasses and some soft furnishings. We will also be unable to leave out the same range of blankets, games and DVDS provided previously. There will be adequate provisions for your stay, and if you do find you are missing something – please just message us and we can ensure a sanitised set is dropped down to you.  If guests could kindly load the dishwasher and set it off, just prior to departure, it will assist us, when ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and loaded back into cupboards  by our cleaning team who will be using appropriate PPE.

 You will be given access to our online booking management system prior to your stay. This replaces our instruction packs and assists with non contact check in. You will find instructions for the lodge appliances, hot tub etc, along with a list of kitchen inventory. Information on the local area including restaurants and things to do is listed here. You will also receive details on non contact check in procedures.

The hot tub area will be thoroughly sanitised between changeovers.

A contactless arrival and departure process will be in place, for your stay, with keys left in the lodge the morning of your arrival

We hope the steps above, are acceptable to our guests and provide re-assurance that appropriate measures are in place for a safe and enjoyable stay at the Orchard.

What is provided?

A selection of toiletries and a starter pack of washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets is provided. The kitchen has plenty of glasses, crockery, roasting tins etc and all the utensils you require, including scales and a hand-held electric mixer. 

A starter selection of coffee pods, bin bags, olive oil and tea bags are left in the lodge, along with salt and pepper. If you wish to bring more coffee pods the lodges have Tassimo coffee machines. A hairdryer is provided in the lodge.

What do we need to bring?

Please bring flip flops or something to use around the hot tub as the decking can be slippery. We would recommend you bring wellies or similar for children as the Orchard and surrounding countryside can become muddy during heavy periods of rain.

Is wood provided for the wood burner and fire pit?

Yes. A basket of logs is provided for those lodges with a wood burner. (Honeysuckle and Jasmine) Each lodge has a small wood store at the back of the lodge with plenty more logs for the wood burner and fire pit. Newspaper, fire lighters and kindling are provided.

Are towels and bed linen provided?

All towels and bed linen are provided, along with bath robes and slippers for all guests.

Are pets welcome?

Yes pets are very welcome. Please bring your own pet bed and towel. Two average size bowls and blanket are provided on request. We would ask that you do not allow pets on the furniture or in the bedrooms. When outside please be considerate of other guest. The lodges are situated in a secure 4 acre Orchard so plenty of space to run around. Please no dogs in the children’s play area. There is an adjoining 12 Acre field about 50 meters away where they can play to their hearts content.

Can we use the hot tub in winter?

Yes the hot tub can be used all year round. It is always on and always warm. However during the colder months please be extra careful if it is icy or slippery around the hot tub. Please note the hot tub has no shelter over it. It does though have a hard cover that pets and small children can walk across

Do lodges have a smart TV and do they have Netflix?

Yes all TVs are smart TVs and have Netflix. Please bring your own log in details and remember to log out before you leave. There is also a DVD player in each lodge.

How far a walk is it into town?

It’s about a 15 -20 minute walk into Hadleigh high street.

Is there a supermarket nearby?

Yes there is a Co-op on the high street, a Morrison’s about a 5 minute drive away and a large 24 hour Tesco’s about 20 min drive away.

Are there local taxis available? 

Yes there are local taxis to take you into Hadleigh and surrounding villages. We do recommend you book in advance.

How many dogs can we bring?

A maximum of 2 well behaved dogs can stay in the cabin.

Can I park 2 cars outside the lodge?

Yes, each lodge has room to park 2 cars outside. Should you need there is some additional parking not far from the lodge.

Is The Orchard suitable for wheelchairs?

Unfortunately because of the positioning of the hot tubs and decking it is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Are the lodges heated? 

Heating is provided by the log burner (3 bed lodges only)  and electric heaters in every room. The lodges are very well insulated and remain very cosy and warm throughout the winter.

How private are the lodges and hot tubs? 

The 3 lodges are positioned about 12 meters apart. Some privacy is provided from tree screening. However you will be aware of your neighbours. We have tried to position the hot tubs so as to maximise privacy. All lodges have an open outlook onto the Orchard.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have done and will continue to offer a full refund for all Covid related cancellations right up to the date of arrival.

Outside Covid we offer full refunds up to 6 weeks before arrival. If you cancel within 6 weeks of arrival we can still offer a full refund if your dates are booked by another group.
